Etymology
This is one of several suffixed names in the Book of Mormon (see also e.g., CUMENI/CUMENIHAH, MATHONI/MATHONIHAH, MORONI/MORONIHAH). For NEPHI, see above. For the suffix -hah see the introduction.
Reynolds, Story of the Book of Mormon, p. 299, based on reading -ihah as the theophoric element and neph as coming from some root meaning “consolation,” translates “Jehovah’s consolation.”
