O: shiblum > shillum > shilum
P: shilum
1830-1981: shiblum

shilum

Alma 11:16
O: shiblum > shillum > shilum
P: shilum

Alma 11:17
O, P: shilum
1830-1981: shiblum

Discussion: Cowdery first wrote shiblum, then shillum, then shilum in O for the first occurrence. Since Oliver would not have known how many l's shilum has, Joseph Smith must have spelled it out for him. The second occurrence shows no correction, but when the 1830 compositor set the name, he spelled it as shiblum, probably because of shiblon.

Summary: Skousen accepts shilum.
