SHERRIZAH

Lehite GN City and tower, early 5th c. AD (Moroni 9:7, 16–17)

It is possible that this GN derives from Hebrew šrs͂, “to swarm, teem” in a Qal verbal noun, “swarm,” or the segholate, šeres͂, “swarming things” (coll.). The doubling
of r and the assumption that s͂ > z detract from this etymology (JH), even though KJV frequently transliterates s͂ with a z (JAT).

Highly unlikely is a derivation from the Assyrian PN rendered in KJV Sharezer, in Hebrew šarʾeṣer (Zechariah 7:2; Isaiah 37:38; 2 Kings 19:37) (RFS), because the final
r would be unaccounted for.
