No etymology is suggested.
If Semitic languages can be appealed to for derivations of Jaredite names, Ugaritic šrd, “to present (an offering), bring down from God,” probably a Š-stem “causative” from the root yrd, “to descend” (RFS).
Confer also the Ebla cityname *šeraduki (Pettinato, Archives) (JAT).
