Lehite noun 1. Gold currency, ca. 82 BC (Alma 11:5, 8–9)

Possibly this noun could derive from the biblical seʾāh, a measure of grain (RFS; and Reynolds, Commentary on the Book of Mormon, 4:282).

Alternatively, this noun might derive from Late EGYPTIAN sniw (JG) a unit of currency which during the New Kingdom in EGYPT was worth about 5 deben (Janssen, Commodity Prices from the Ramessid Period, 102-8).

Cf. Book of Mormon SENINE, SENUM(S)
