Biblical PN 1. Hebrew prophet, ca. 15th c. BC (1 Nephi 4:2; Ether 12:11)

The name has plausible etymologies in both Hebrew and EGYPTIAN. It may have been intended to have both meanings. (This may be true of other Book of Mormon names as well.) For the etymology see the standard biblical commentaries.
