Etymology

Confer the biblical PN lΔ•mΕ«ΚΎel, LEMUEL, Proverbs 31:1, 4, meaning, possibly, "(belonging) to God," the mΕ« in lΔ•mΕ« an "inserted additional style" (KB 1958 483b). Note the Edomite PN in the text β€œThe Words of LEMUEL, King of Massa" (LID, 41-42 and ABM, 59). King of Massa” (LID, 41–42 and ABM, 59).

Reynolds and Sjodahl (1:26) give the meaning β€œGodward” or β€œGod is bright.”
