2. Another of the Twelve Disciples of Jesus, ca. 30 AD (3 Nephi 19:4)

Etymology

The PN JONAS may be the Greek form of the OT name Jonah, from the Hebrew noun yônâh, “dove.”[1] Alternatively, JONAS may be from the HEBREW (<yahweh) + nēs, “the Lord is a standard, banner; miracle.”

Variants

Deseret Alphabet: 𐐖𐐄𐐤𐐊𐐝 (dʒoʊnʌs)
