Jaredite PN		1. Man who left Tower of Babel, founder of Jaredites (Ether 1:32; Moroni 1:1)
			2. Son of Omer, rebel, king (Ether 8:1; 9:6)

This antediluvian biblical PN is usually derived from Hebrew yrd, “descend, *chase after” (so also Reynolds, Commentary on the Book of Mormon, VI, p. 46). See the
