Jaredite PN 1. Son of JARED (Ether 6:14)

No etymology is suggested.

If an appeal to biblical Hebrew can be made to provide etymologies for Jaredite names, compare the biblical PN *Jakim/Jaqim. Also possible would be Hebrew yaqûm, “he shall arise,” e.g., the PN yqmyhw on a 7th c. BC ostracon from Arad (IDAM no. 67–992) (JAT). Reynolds, Commentary on the Book of Mormon, VI, p. 116, already made a similar suggestion.
