This name is the same as the biblical name Jezebel, wife of the Israelite king Ahab and daughter of Ethbaal, King of Tyre and Sidon (cp. Phoenician yzbl). Lehite PN 1. A female PN in the Book of Mormon of a harlot who caused ALMA the Younger's son CORIANTON to abandon his mission and follow her into the land of SIRON (Alma 39:3).

Etymology

The PN ISABEL is a variant spelling of biblical Jezebel, from the Hebrew ʾîzebel, “where is (the) Prince?”[1] (The King James spelling follows the Septuagint, ιεζαβελ, not the Hebrew.)
