GILGAL is a JAREDITE/Lehite city mentioned five times in the Book of Mormon. Though Semitic etymologies for this name (mentioned about forty times in the Old Testament) are uncertain, cf. Hebrew gilgāl, "stone circle; wheel," from the Hebrew verbal root gālal "roll (stone) to, roll (stone) away"; cf. Ugaritic PN bn glgl.
