Lamanite PN 1. King of land of Middoni, 1st c. BC (Alma 20:4)

If the name is to be divided into anti- and -omno, the first part of this PN, anti, may be the same element as in Anti-Nephi-Lehi. See the same for a discussion of anti. The second element, omno, could be from a root such as ʾmn, “faithfulness, firmness; craftsman, maker,” or ʿmn, with a 3m.s. pronominal suffix. Thus, Antiomno could mean “facing his faithfulness.”

Cf. Book of Mormon ONTI(ES), ANI-ANTI, ANTION, ANTIONAH, ANTIONUM, ANTIPARAH, ANTIPAS, ANTIPUS, ANTUM, ANTINEPHILEHI, AMMON
