Etymology

Until a possible language origin for JAREDITE can be determined, all suggestions for etymologies of JAREDITE names must remain more speculative than substantive.

No etymology for this JAREDITE name is suggested.

Highly doubtful are suggestions based on Semitic derivations, such as Old Akkadian ḫuriānum, a plant, ḫurium (Gelb, 132) and ḫurrum, “hole, mine” (Gelb, 133) (JAT).
