‡NIMRAH

Jaredite PN Prince (Ether 9:8–9)

No etymology is suggested.

If biblical names may be appealed to, see Nimrah (nimrāh) in Numbers 32:3 (JAT). See also biblical nāmēr, “leopard, panther” (JAT, BU). The Ebla GNs namarki and namaraatki
could be from the same root, the latter being feminine and thus similar in form to the Hebrew GN (JAT).

It has been suggested that other Jaredite names (Coriantum, Coriantor, Shiblon/m, Levi, Lib, Nimrod) appear to be lion and leopard names (BU, NPSEHA 150.0 [Aug. 1982]).
