Etymology
Perhaps the name comes from the EGYPTIAN gmgm, “smash, tear up, break trees,” and nw, “city,” to be compared with the city kipkip/kibkib (Coptic gibgib), “hacked up, destroyed” (RFS). Nibley mentions the EGYPTIAN city kenkeme.[1]
