Lehite PN 1. Apostle, son of NEPHI no. 3, ca. 30 AD (3 Nephi 19:4)
2. Son of No. 1, also an Apostle, ca. 30 AD (3 Nephi 19:4)

The PN JONAS may be the Greek form of the OT name Jonah, from the Hebrew yonah, "dove."[1] Alternatively, JONAS may be from the Hebrew yo (=Yahu) + nes, "the Lord is a standard, banner." This PN takes the form of the Greek transliteration of the OT name Jonah (Sperry, The Book of Mormon Testifies, p. 305).
