Etymology
ASSYRIA is the name of an ancient Near Eastern land located in Mesopotamia. It occurs in the ISAIAH section of the 2 Nephi with reference to the biblical land but does not refer to a separate Book of Mormon GN or PN. The GN ASSYRIA may derive from one of their capitals, Assur, itself probably taken from their national god, Assur.
