Etymology
Probably a variant form from MULEK, on which see the same below. The initial vowel could be the vestiges of the definite article (see the discussion under βa-β in βStudiesβ), and would translate approximately βthe Mulek.β A prosthetic aleph is not likely because there is no consonant cluster to dissolve.
