Lehite GN 1. Name of a NEPHITE military leader slain in the final battles with the LAMANITES (Mormon 6:14).
Lehite PN 2. Name of a NEPHITE city and land to which the people of NEPHI under MORMON were driven (Mormon 2:20, 21).

Etymology

SHEM, a NEPHITE PN and GN, may derive from hebrew shem, "name" (cf. HALOT 1994, 4:1548-51, and note the biblical PN SHEM, the son of NOAH).
