Lehite GN 1. City which sank into the sea, ca. 30 AD (3 Nephi 9:7)

Cf. Hebrew maqōm, “place, station, town, village” = Arabic maqām, also known from Syriac, Ethiopic and Phoenician with the same meaning (RFS, JAT, JH).

Perhaps from Mayan mo'-k'u'-um "macaw nest" (MW, JG).[1]

Cf. Book of Mormon JACOM, CUMORAH, CUMENI, CUMENIHAH, KUMEN, KISHKUMEN, et al.
