Biblical PN 1. In ISAIAH quotation (2 Nephi 17:6 = Isaiah 7:6)

Etymology

KJV TABEAL from metonymic HEBREW ṭābĕʾāl “Not-Good, God-for-Naught” (2 Nephi 17:6 = Isaiah 7:6) in place of ṭābĕʾēl “God-is-Good” (Ezra 4:7).[1]

Variants

Deseret Alphabet: 𐐓𐐁𐐒𐐀𐐊𐐢 (teɪbiːʌl)

Notes

  1. John Hull in Freedman, ed., Anchor Bible Dictionary, VI:292. It may also be a disphemism.
