Until a possible language origin for JAREDITE can be determined, all suggestions for etymologies of JAREDITE names must remain more speculative than substantive.

GILEAD appears as the name of a JAREDITE land in the book of Ether. Although the origin of JAREDITE names is quite uncertain, see the PN and GN GILEAD that appears over 120 times in the Old Testament; cf. HEBREW gilʾad.
