Etymology

No etymology is suggested.

If Sumerian can provide JAREDITE patterns, then perhaps the Sumerian PN kurum, king of Uruk (biblical Erech) Dynasty 4 might be a parallel (RFS). Sumerian kur means mountain.

Cf. Akkadian kurum III, โ€œEin Stรผck von Stemmeโ€ or Sumerian kurum, kur, โ€œcut, divide, judge, pass sentenceโ€ and kur, โ€œgreat, mountain, landโ€ which appears in the name of the pilot of the ark in the Mesopotamian flood story, kurgal (RFS).

Cf. Book of Mormon CORIHOR, KORIHOR

  • (RLDS has Corum in one place)
