Etymology

Probably a variant form from MULEK, on which see the same below. The initial vowel could be the vestiges of the definite article (see the discussion under β€œa-” in β€œStudies”), and would translate approximately β€œthe Mulek.” A prosthetic aleph is not likely because there is no consonant cluster to dissolve.
