SHEMNON

Lehite PN Apostle, ca. 30 AD (3 Nephi 19:4)

Perhaps Hebrew *šemnōn from Hebrew šemen, “oil” (JAT), with the ending ōn, for example, as on the PN Gideon. Compare also from the same root the biblical PN
Mishmannah “fat, stout, lusty, fertile” (1 Chronicles 12:11) (JH).

Cf. Biblical Hebrew Shem, Shemlon, Shim, Shimnilom
