Biblical PN 1. An ancient ISRAELITE king (2 Nephi 5:16 (x3);Jacob 1:15;2:23, 24;3 Nephi 13:29; Matthew 6:29)

Etymology

SOLOMON is the name of a king of ISRAEL mentioned five times in the Book of Mormon but not mentioned as a separate PN or GN in the Book of Mormon.

Hebrew šĕlōmô “His-replacement” (from Hebrew šillēm “make compensastion”),[1] as in the PN Shillem (Genesis 46:24, Numbers 26:49); cf. Late Babylonian ši-il-li-mu “loan; he has paid.”[2] The folk-etymolgy is that Yahweh/Jehovah “will give peace (šālôm) to Israel in his days” (1 Chronicles 22:9).[3]

See SHIBLUM/ SHILUM/ SHILLUM, SHILOM.
