Variant spelling of ANGOLA
Mormon 2:4
- P: Angolah
- 1830: Angelah
- 1837-1981: Angola
- Discussion: Since both P and 1830 have an h at the end, O must have had an h too. At this place in the Book of Mormon both P and 1830 were copied directly from O. There are many names in the Book of Mormon that end in h. Angolah also looks more similar to other Book of Mormon names, although there is not a lot of evidence for one name over the other. Cowdery often wrote his o's to where they looked like e's, so the 1830 typewriter probably misread O.
