Etymology

Until a possible language origin for JAREDITE can be determined, all suggestions for etymologies of JAREDITE names must remain more speculative than substantive.

Sumerian lib "(to be) rich, well-off; high quality; (to be) happy" = Akkadian hadû, hidiātu, râšu, rāšû, rīšātu.[1]

Akkadian libbu, lib-bi “heart, center” (loanword in Sumerian lib "inner body; heart")[2] = Ugaritic lb, Hebrew lēb, lēbāb.[3]

Sumerian lib "dazed silence, (deathly) silence; (to be) dazed" = Akkadian šaqummatu; Cf. Sumerian lib4 “agitate,” and lib4-lib4 "plunderer."[4]
