Etymology

Confer the biblical PN lฤ•mลซสพel, LEMUEL, Proverbs 31:1, 4, meaning, possibly, "(belonging) to God," the mลซ in lฤ•mลซ an "inserted additional style" (KB 1958 483b). Note the Edomite PN in the text โ€œThe Words of LEMUEL, King of Massa" (LID, 41-42 and ABM, 59). King of Massaโ€ (LID, 41โ€“42 and ABM, 59).

Reynolds and Sjodahl (1:26) give the meaning โ€œGodwardโ€ or โ€œGod is bright.โ€
