Lehite PN 1. Rebel king, leader of the king-men, ca. 63 BC (Alma 62:6, 7, 8, 9 (x2))

Etymology

Nibley has suggested EGYPTIAN p3-แธฅsy, โ€œhe [DN] is praisedโ€ (LID, 28). PACHUS is much less likely to have anything to do with the EGYPTIAN PN hes or khesi, โ€œpraisedโ€ (HWN).

Even less likely is a corruption of the Meriotic PN โ€œPakaziโ€ (SC, p. 194). A long short is perhaps EGYPTIAN prkลก, โ€œhouse of Cushโ€ (RFS, Egyptianisms, p. 6).

Cf. Book of Mormon PAANCHI, PAHORAN, PAGAG (?)
