Biblical PN 1. City near the Dead Sea (2 Nephi 20:28)

Etymology

AIATH is cited in the Book of Mormon as an ANE place name but is not given in the Book of Mormon as a geographical name.

Reynolds, DBM, 13, speculates that this is another name for the biblical city Ai. , and Köhler-Baumgartner's Lexicon gives the meaning of 'Ai as "heap of stones." 'Ayat='Ayyah by form.
