Etymology
the Lehite PN EMRON may derive from HEBREW ʾāmar "to speak."[1] If so, it may be a hypocoristic form with the HEBREW/common Semitic ending -ōn of the GNs and masculine PNs meaning "Word (of God); (God) has spoken, commanded" (PYH). Cf. biblical HEBREW ʾimrô "his command" (Job 20:29), and possibly forming the HEBREW PNs Omri and Imri (1 Chronicles 9:4) (JH).
Emron may also possibly from the HEBREW gentilic ʾēmôrî "Amorite" (Genesis 10:16; Ezekiel 16:3, 45; Amos 2:9, 10).
